Racing Stars Football Cup: F1 puts on its boots for a good cause
On the eve of the Monaco Grand Prix, the Stade Louis II vibrated to the rhythm of a gala match bringing together Formula 1 drivers, soccer legends and celebrities, all united in support of charitable causes.
On May 21, 2025, the first official edition of the Racing Stars Football Cup was organized by Monaco’s Barbagiuans, under the impetus of Louis Ducruet, team president since 2020. The event, held under the patronage of HSH Prince Albert II, continues a thirty-year tradition of combining sport and solidarity.
Stars on the pitch
The match saw a number of iconic figures from the world of motor sport and soccer come face to face. F1 drivers Pierre Gasly, Carlos Sainz, Isack Hadjar and Thierry Neuville shared the pitch with former footballers Ludovic Giuly, Flavio Roma, Javier Chevanton, Gaël Givet and Sébastien Squillaci. Personalities from other disciplines were also present, including MMA fighter Greg MMA, humorist Ragnar le Breton and singer Matt Pokora.
A strong commitment to charity
Proceeds from the event will be donated to two associations: the Jules Bianchi Association, created in memory of the tragically deceased driver, and Be Safe Monaco, founded by Camille Gottlieb to raise awareness of the dangers of drink-driving.
Philippe Bianchi, Jules’ father and honorary president of the association, expressed his gratitude: “This initiative touches me deeply, as it brings together several F1 drivers just before the Monaco Grand Prix, which was so important to Jules.”
Camille Gottlieb underlined the importance of the event for her cause: “Having personalities from the world of motorsport involved clearly helps us to amplify our message.”
A festive, supportive atmosphere
Beyond the competition, it was the spirit of camaraderie and solidarity that prevailed. Louis Ducruet declared: “That’s what Barbagiuans are all about! I think it’s important to innovate and welcome other elite athletes to our team. It’s a step in line with our growth strategy”.
The event attracted some 3,000 spectators, who came to support a noble cause while enjoying a unique spectacle combining sport and entertainment.
