Karting: They will be racing this weekend at Le Castellet in memory of Jules Bianchi.
In tribute to Jules Bianchi, the F1 driver who tragically died at the age of 25, the 10th edition of this emotional race will take place this weekend at the Paul Ricard circuit.
October 5, 2014. Jules Bianchi was involved in a serious accident during the Japanese Formula 1 Grand Prix when, in heavy rain, his car collided with a recovery vehicle. Just as a promising career was opening up for the Ferrari driver, renowned for his talent and kindness, the Nice native died on July 17, 2015, after more than nine months in a coma.
In the midst of their grief, his family immediately created the Jules Bianchi Association to perpetuate his memory through concrete actions in support of people with severe brain injuries: supporting research, financing medical equipment, providing support to families, and more. Under the patronage of Charles Leclerc, a close friend of Jules, the association continues to uphold the values of courage, determination, and pushing beyond one’s limits that characterized the young prodigy.
A 42-hour endurance race
In this context, the 10th edition of the Jules Bianchi Karting Marathon—originally organized by his father Philippe at the Brignoles circuit—will take place this weekend at the Paul Ricard circuit. A 42-hour endurance race, which will start this Friday evening at 7:40 p.m. with 35 teams on the starting grid. A great moment of sport and emotion in prospect.
