F1 – A karting marathon to honor the memory of Jules Bianchi

From September 12 to 14, the Castellet circuit will host a team race to pay tribute to the former Formula 1 driver who tragically died 10 years ago.

This is already the 10th edition of the Jules Bianchi Marathon, an exceptional and unique 42-hour, 19-minute, and 50-second karting race that brings together professional drivers, celebrities, and ordinary people with a common goal: to honor the memory of Jules Bianchi while supporting the Jules Bianchi Association, which helps patients at the L’Archet Hospital in Nice.

Philippe Bianchi, Jules‘ father, and Franck Lagorce, a former Formula 1 driver, are organizing this event, which takes on a special significance this year as it marks 10 years since the Nice-born driver lost his life after nine months in a coma.

Jules Bianchi’s F1 career with the now defunct Marussia team came to a tragic end on October 5, 2014, during his 34th Grand Prix. In heavy rain, he collided with a recovery vehicle during the Japanese Grand Prix.

50,000 euros raised last year

Jules Bianchi died on July 17, 2015, at a hospital in Nice as a result of his injuries. Since then, his family has created an association bearing his name and sponsored by Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc, which raises funds to support medical research into severe brain injuries.

Jean Alesi will start this 10th edition on Friday, September 12 at 7:41 p.m. and release the 35 teams onto the Paul Ricard karting track. Last year, the event raised €50,000 for the Jules Bianchi Association to support the L’Archet Hospital.
