“A sacred object”: stolen a few days ago, Jules Bianchi’s last kart has been found

The theft of equipment belonging to the young driver from Brignoles had moved the public last week.

His appeal had touched the entire motorsport community, as well as a large part of the population of the Brignoles area. Philippe Bianchi, the father of Jules Bianchi, the Formula 1 driver who died in 2015, was moved a few days ago by the theft of Jules’ last go-kart and other vehicles bearing his “JB17 forever” brand, from a garage in Le Val.

He then launched a passionate appeal on social media, which was widely shared, including in our columns. And on Tuesday afternoon, the long-awaited good news finally arrived: Jules Bianchi’s last kart had been found.

“It was found in Le Val, in a ditch,” said Jules Bianchi’s father. “A local resident was surprised to find it there and picked it up. He then saw on social media that Jules’ kart had been stolen and contacted the police to let them know he thought he had found it. It’s probably a very local case, everything happened between Brignoles and Le Val, and it was surely people who knew what they were doing. Did they drop off Jules’ kart when they realized what they had done? I’m not sure, but for me, only the result matters!”

“We are still hopeful that we will find the rest.”

After the distress experienced by the whole family, “this is very good news, and it warms the heart,” Philippe Bianchi adds. “What I want to emphasize, above all, is the comfort the family has felt since I launched this appeal, seeing the immense solidarity of the public, the mobilization on social media, the very effective coverage by the media, and of course the ongoing work of the gendarmerie. “

Although Jules’ last kart has been found, the rest of the stolen items are still missing, including the nine chassis bearing Jules Bianchi’s brand name, “JB17 forever,” as well as the family’s mini karts. “We are still hopeful that we will find the rest, as the gendarmerie is continuing its investigation and the karting community remains very attentive to anything that might turn up… But the most important thing is already here: we have found Jules’ kart. For us, it is a sacred object, and finding it has done the family a lot of good.”
